Gold Rate Calculator with Making Charges & GST
Pre-filled with today’s Bangalore rate (22K ₹12,870/g, as of 26 Oct, 12:00 am IST). Enter your jeweller’s rate instead if it differs.
How the calculation works
Gold value = weight (g) × rate per gram
Making charges = gold value × making % (or weight × flat ₹ per gram)
GST = 3% × (gold value + making charges)
Total = gold value + making charges + GST
When a jeweller bills making charges separately as job work, the calculator applies 3% GST to the gold and 5% to the making charge instead. See GST on gold for when each applies.
Worked example
A 20-gram 22K necklace at ₹12,870 per gram is ₹2,57,400 of gold. At 10% making charges that adds ₹25,740. GST at 3% on ₹2,83,140 is ₹8,494, so the estimated bill is ₹2,91,634.

Tips for comparing quotes
- Compare the total, not just the rate per gram. A lower rate with high making charges can cost more.
- Ask whether making charges are a percentage or a flat amount, and whether stones are weighed with the gold.
- Check the hallmark and HUID on the piece and on the bill.
- Purity matters: 22K is 91.6% gold, so the same weight in 18K costs less.
